| Whole class activities
Within each activity, the learning objectives are clearly set out on the first screen. Further screens provide a developmental approach to the topic being covered, allowing teachers to choose an appropriate starting point and route through the activity. These screens are designed to support the teaching of curriculum objectives, with a focus on the needs of EAL learners, and use Easiteach features to present ideas in an interactive and engaging way. Teaching notes at the end of each activity provide a guide through the screens and highlight opportunities for language development. Ideas for further follow-up activities are also suggested within the teaching notes. Activities can be accessed through two different indexing systems. For curriculum teachers, the activities are indexed by the three core subjects, and broken down into the different strands of the curriculum, with an indication of the suitability of each activity for Key Stage 2 and 3 pupils. For language teachers, the activities can still be seen in the different curriculum areas, but are defined by whether they have a word, sentence or text emphasis. All activities can be used in full or part as they have been written. However, they can also be easily adapted to meet the particular needs of different pupils. EAL Word BankThe Easiteach EAL Content Pack contains a Word Bank that can be accessed from any activity; it is also available if you choose to create your own activities. The Word Bank is split into Literacy, Science and Mathematics areas, which include key vocabulary identified by the national curricula. |
