The Easiteach Animated Books Content Pack provides high quality teaching
and learning materials designed by the Hamilton Reading Project. These
totally original resources have been produced in collaboration with teachers.
They support interactive, whole-class teaching using stimulating animations
with related creative activities. The teaching of fiction, poetry and
non-fiction is enhanced in ways which inspire imaginative and enjoyable
work where children develop higher level skills in English.
Two
versions of the pack are available, one for Foundation and Key Stage
1 and one for Key Stage 2.
The packs
each contain 21 books – a variety of Animated Tales, Animated
Facts and Animated Poems.
For all
the Animated Tales, Poems and Facts there is a Poster Book version which
can be printed for group work, Weekly Plans, Activity Sheets, teaching
notes and Rhyme Books to support the theme of each Animated Book.

Monster
Goes for a Drive follows Monster on a day trip to the country.
He has to ask directions before finding a great place for a picnic
and swim and then a little nap. This stunning Animated Tale gives
children the motivation to draw maps and label them, to design monster
cars and clothes, and to describe these as well as creating their
own monster. Re-enacting the story inspires their speaking, listening
and writing! |
| In
Tom and the Sea Caves, Tom is sitting on the beach,
the sand is wet and grainy and the sea sings in his ears –
but Tom is not happy. His mum and dad have told him off for throwing
sand near his baby sister. He decides to go for a walk where something
catches his eye… This fabulous Animated Tale draws upon children’s
love of big dinosaurs. Children retell the story orally, noticing
the difference between oral and written forms, and go on to write
a continuation and some imaginative dialogue. They explore a dinosaur
poem and create their own version. |

The
Tolpuddle Martyrs explores the true story of the farmers
back in the seventeenth century who dared to ask for ‘honest
and fair wages’. Retold through the eyes of Hettie, the daughter
of one of the landowners, it combines atmospheric artwork with an
‘edge-of-your-seat’ narrative. |
| In
1912 the Titanic set sail from Southampton, bound for New York.
After only a short time at sea, she struck an iceberg and sank in
the Atlantic Ocean. The Convergence of the Twain
is Thomas Hardy’s evocative poem on the tragic loss. Children
study the language used in this Animated Poem and debate the notion
that the whole trip was an extravagance. They produce carefully
researched reports about some of the topics, e.g. icebergs, weather,
etc. |
